The Tavern....Restaurant Review....

This was date night I mentioned here,The Tavern in Murrisk, Co Mayo.

This was a bit of a drive for me but I happened to be in that neck of the woods and decided to try it out.

We arrived to a warm and inviting room with a bar and tables set around it in a modern country style.

We helped our selves to a booth at the back of the bar. There were 4 of us and the booth was perfect, all dark wood,a tartan material and dark leather. The bar is made of glass which leaves no part of the restaurant dark.
This gives you an idea of the interior, lovely!
A friendly waitress was with us in no time and handed us two menus, a la carte menu and a curry menu (I think Friday night only).
We were delighted with the curry menu that we decided to order from it.

We ordered  Kormas and Chicken Tikka Masala, medium. All I can say is WOW. When the food arrived we were so surprised at the huge plates and hungry that there wasn't a peep out of any of us while we ate, well for about 5 minutes then the oohhh and ahhh started.

Tikka Masala, pity the poppadom fell over
Apologies for the quality of the pics. Hubbie would not let me take my camera, so these were taken with my phone. Also above our table they had these wonderful light shades made from basket weave. These cast a lovely light but not so lovely in my pics.....Unfortunatly my Korma pic is really bad, I can't use it.

All came on one plate, a bowl of curry, some rice, flat bread, poppadom, chutney and yogurt.

We had desert, I am such a desert person. Menu said all deserts made by chief, lovely and the lovely waitress advised that the Lemon Meringue Pie was just made, sold I was and ordered it.

Lemon Meringue Pie
As you can see from above I was half way through before I remembered to take a pick...bad blogger...lol. I was truely delicious, I am biased as I love lemon deserts!!

After a couple of glasses of wine it was time to go.

The atmosphere in this restaurant is lovely and relaxed. I lies at the foot of Croagh Patrick Mountain, the perfect setting for a wonder restaurant. I will be revisiting!!

The food very tasty, served beautifully, hot and very keenly priced. 4 currys were €40, service was brisk and friendly event though we were waiting on our chips, atmostphere was lovely and relaxed and was a lovely warm temperature, very welcoming and clean!

If your in this part of the world, you must visit The Tavern for a Friday night Curry!! and I am sure other food delights....I spied a beautiful platter of oysters flying past me....yum
