Not So Secret Santa....

We do this at home every year for Christmas. We have been doing it for at least the last 10 years, I would say...

Incognito Santa
Problem is, its not so secret.....We always know who is buying for who and we drop the biggest hints as to what we want, so that you get what you want....It really should be called "buy me this or I will fall out with you, not so Secret Santa"

I am going to tell you the story of the person who is the best member of my family to have buying for you for Secret Santa (sorry everyone else in my family), my Brother.....yes I said "BROTHER"......(well, I think his wonderful Girlfriend has a lot to do with it....).

We open pressies on Christmas Eve and as half of us are always traveling from corners far to get home for Christmas. We land home to chaos...

  • Finding spaces to park cars...
  • Shouting welcomes from the front door so the neighbors can hear...
  • Loud chattering (we are very loud, I blame Dad on account he is hard of hearing!)...
  • Hugging...
  • Kissing...
  • Ruffling coats off...
  • Dragging in suitcases, bags of shopping, pressies, drink and food...There are a lot of us
  • Mother trying to feed us the moment you set foot inside the door..
  • Win bottles popping (well mostly screw tops now!! so not much popping)...
  • Beer cans opening and clinking of ice in glasses for a little Whiskey...
  • Pulling out the Cheese boards, and nibbles...
  • Ferrying people off to rooms... to change out of uniforms and into Christmas outfits
  • Stacking pressies under the tree...
I think you get the message. Well all slyly inspect the presents under the tree, giving them a good shake and a feel...

This particular year my brother was late, we were all at home and ready to open pressies, but he was buying for my sister and her pressie was not under the tree yet. Brother is a feather head, so we were rising her saying he probably forgot to buy her something and as the evening wore on she started to believe us a bit and was getting worried.

Well, the Brother, arrived in with the biggest home made hamper, full to the brim of cosmetics, makeup, perfume, all the wonders a woman would want and need all in a beautiful basket and covered in the clear plastic for hampers with a big bow!! We were all stumped into silence, as my Dad held the door open for him as he maneuvered this MASSIVE hamper in to the sitting room...

Till this day we talk about THE HAMPER.....

Good news is my Brother is buying for me this year....wonder what I will get...or will I hint!!

Slán!
